MSUFCU Unites Community and Creativity at Brighton Branch Grand Opening

January 16, 2025

At MSU Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU), we believe in more than just banking—we believe in building connections and creating opportunities that empower people and strengthen communities. That’s why the grand opening of our Brighton branch on January 16, 2025, was about more than opening our doors—it was about opening hearts.

During the celebration, we were proud to announce a $10,000 donation to Work Skills Corporation’s Artisan Corner, an incredible program that uplifts local artists while championing inclusion and creativity.

Empowering Artists, Enriching Lives

Work Skills Corporation has spent over 50 years helping people in Livingston County discover their potential. Their Artisan Corner program is a shining example of how they foster inclusion and empowerment, helping individuals overcome barriers and find their voice through art.

The program doesn’t just support creativity; it creates opportunities. It helps artists share their stories, earn income, and take part in the vibrant community we’re proud to call home.

“This program resonates deeply with us,” said Arianna Ridderbusch, MSUFCU’s Vice President of Community Impact. “It reflects what we strive for every day—providing pathways to financial security while fostering a stronger, more inclusive community. We’re honored to stand alongside Work Skills Corporation in their mission.”

Through our support, even more artists will have the opportunity to showcase their talents, whether online or at the Artisan Corner Boutique at 100 Summit St. in Brighton. Their work is a reminder of the beauty that emerges when people are empowered to thrive.

Celebrating Together: A Day to Remember

Our grand opening event was a celebration of community spirit and collaboration. From the moment doors opened at 9 a.m., the energy was electric. We welcomed neighbors, local leaders, and the talented artists of Artisan Corner for a morning filled with connection, inspiration, and, of course, delicious treats.

Guests enjoyed cookies from MSU Bakers, beverages and a breakfast buffet from Captain’s on Main, and went home with delightful hot cocoa bombs from LaLa’s Too that brought warmth to the chilly January day. As attendees explored a pop-up shop and art displays featuring works from Artisan Corner, they witnessed firsthand how art can bring people together and spark meaningful conversations.

The day was made even more special by heartfelt remarks from community leaders and MSUFCU executives. The ribbon-cutting at 10:05 a.m. symbolized not just the opening of a new branch but our ongoing commitment to being a partner Brighton can count on.

Behind the Scenes: Turning Vision into Reality

At MSUFCU, we know that impactful moments are built through hard work and thoughtful planning. Our Community Engagement and Event teams worked tirelessly in the weeks leading up to the event to ensure everything—from the floral arrangements by Four Seasons Florist to the carefully scheduled program—came together seamlessly.

It’s the little details, like cookies baked with care and art displays thoughtfully arranged, that reflect how much this community means to us. Seeing so many smiling faces at the grand opening reminded us why we do what we do: for you, our members and neighbors.

Together, We Make a Difference

We’ve always believed that stronger communities are built together. Our partnership with Work Skills Corporation is a testament to what’s possible when we unite for a common purpose. As Julie Smith, Foundation Development Manager at Work Skills Corporation, shared:

“MSUFCU’s support of Artisan Corner means we’re able to give more artists an opportunity to share their message and earn income. It’s inspiring to see a local business invest in our community in such a meaningful way.”

That investment isn’t just financial—it’s personal. Every time we have the chance to uplift someone’s story, to create opportunities, or to bring people together, it’s a reflection of the values that drive us at MSUFCU.
