Countdown to CU Kind Day
October 13, 2022
CU Kind Day, which took place on October 10, is an annual opportunity for credit unions around the country to spread kindness and positivity. This year, MSUFCU held a countdown to CU Kind Day, highlighting nine of MSUFCU’s partners who have helped support the Greater Lansing Community.
1. Love In Deed
The first partner highlighted during CU Kind Week was Love In Deed. Love In Deed is an organization that helps support Michigan’s foster care children by providing clothes, shoes, and other essential items for daily living at no cost to the foster families. Love In Deed works to ensure each new foster placement is successful by removing barriers.
The next partner, End Violent Encounters (EVE), is a supportive services network for survivors of domestic and sexual abuse, stalking, and elder abuse. EVE’s Counseling Program serves individuals who have experienced domestic violence in Ingham County and sexual violence in the Lansing tri-county area.
Barn Sanctuary, third on the countdown, is an impactful partner to MSUFCU as they rescue and rehabilitate neglected farm animals. Farm animals receive more neglect and abuse than any other group of animals in the world. Therefore, Barn Sanctuary has created a safe haven for over 100 farm animals to recover and thrive.
4. Capital Area District Library
Our next CU Kind partner is the Capital Area District Library (CADL), a valuable partner to our community, reaches out with services to schools, churches, senior centers, and more. CADL is dedicated to empowering diverse communities to learn, imagine, and connect.
The fifth partner highlighted is Family Promise of Grand Rapids. They are dedicated to ending homelessness, one family at a time, by engaging faith-based and community organizations to provide emergency shelter and basic needs to families with children who are homeless. They also provide additional programs to assist families in finding housing and sustaining their independence.
6. Communities in Schools Michigan
Communities in Schools Michigan is the sixth highlight of our countdown to CU Kind Day. Through various efforts, they help local students who cannot afford necessities like winter clothes, school supplies, and more. Their mission is to surround students with a community of support and empower them to stay in school and achieve in life.
By fostering entrepreneurialism, the Downtown Lansing Alive event is free to the public and encourages the Greater Lansing community to come with family and friends to enjoy and activate Lansing’s beautiful parks. This community support promotes recreational activity, economic development, small businesses, and Michigan musicians.
Our next partner is Mint Artists Guild. Mint Artists Guild took on an Art in the Parks initiative, providing opportunities to children in the Detroit area to participate in free arts and crafts. Their mission for this project is to put a smile on children’s faces and build confidence in their creative skills.
Last on our countdown to CU Kind Day is Girls on the Run. Girls on the Run is an organization that promotes girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident by using a fun experience-based program that incorporates running. Girls on the Run continues to inspire creativity, encourage movement, and teach important skills for girls of all ages.
MSUFCU is proud to be a partner and support each of these organizations. As a credit union, we strive to make meaningful impacts in our community and we will continue to give back through volunteerism, donations, and by providing resources to those in our community.
