Get Your Car Ready for Summer Road Trips
May 19, 2022
Summer is just around the corner — which means it’s time for summer road trips. Follow our tips to help get your car in shape for summer.
Clean and Detail
Winter can leave your car salty and full of winter gear like hats, coats, gloves, and more. Cleaning your car from the inside out is a great first step to take.
Start by taking everything out of our vehicle. This will give you more room to fit you and your vacation items. Many gas stations and car washes offer free or affordable vacuums to clean out the inside of your car and wipe down the dash, wheel, and other surfaces for a fresh spring clean.
Go through a car wash or do it yourself to make sure you get off all the winter salt and spring mud. This will help protect your car from corrosion and help it run more smoothly. Plus, it increases the longevity of the vehicle!
Get a Tune Up
A few other ways you can help prepare your car for a road trip is to check the tire pressure and fill as needed. Fill up your washer fluid as it tends to get used up quickly over the winter months. An extremely important step to take when preparing your car for a trip is to get an oil change — making sure your oil is in good health will help stop car problems before they start.
You may also consider taking your vehicle into a shop to get your battery, engine, and other maintenance needs checked. This will help prevent the unfortunate event of having to find a mechanic during your road trip!
Hit the Road
Once your car is ready for summer, hit the road with more peace of mind as you embark on your next adventure. If you’re looking to add more to your summer budget, consider refinancing your vehicle loan at a lower rate to save money each month.
